Hey!
Well,we all knew it would come soon, and here it is! Back to school time! Goodbye parties, special dinners, and staying up till midnight!
But is that what Christmas is really about? Eating mince pies till your buttons burst, staying up till 5 in the morning and spending the rest of your day in bed?
You've heard the Christmas tale before
the Christ born on a stable floor
but think again,this Christmas scene,
not all is
bliss and
sweet serene,
think
rusted tools,think
grotty shed,
think
feeding trough for Jesus' head,
where
mice and
lice and
rats devour
a new-born babe is due this hour.
Some months before in Joseph's town
a messenger from heaven came down
'Your Mary soon will have a son,
the
Son of God,the saving one',
Mary saw an angel too,
unmarried,with a baby due?
So Jesus,not yet even born,
is subject to the gossips
scorn.
A census now to count all men,
sends our Joseph to Bethlehem.
Poor Mary with her pregnant load
one hundred miles along the road,
and
no-one came to help that night,
no natal nurse to numbe the
fright,
as waters break and labour starts
the Saviour in a shed imparts.
Sing! angels,from the hill tonight!
Bring sheperds to this
holy sight,
Shine,star of wonder,brilliant light,
lead wise men to the child this night!
Now Herod got to hear the news,
'A new-born
Christ,
King of the Jews?'
So first-born sons were culled that year,
such
fear , such
blood ,such
death ,such
tears
But Joseph, bride and child take flight,
they flee to Egypt through the night,
undernourished as they roam,
now
refugees and
far from home.
For you God gives this Christmas story,
the coming of the King of Glory.
There it is,the Christmas story.
Why am I putting it on
now? In January??
Well, for me,every time I hear this story at Christmas,it touches my heart so hard.
And now my new year resolution is, Lets This Story Always Touch Your Heart. Wether it's Christmas or not, always remember the King of kings who was born in a shed to save us from our sins.
Let it always be Christmas in your heart.
Alice :)
